A New Year, Make It YOUR Year To Achieve Your Goals... A Very Happy New Year to you.. I hope you had an amazing break. Wasn’t the weather just superb (well that is if you were in Melbourne). So the New Year has begun, I hope you are well into achieving your New Year goals!!

You maybe thinking what a load of rubbish however this is the stuff I learnt years ago in which helped me live my dreams and passions-seriously it really does work and I can tell you now, if you live doing what you love to do every day is exciting. I absolutely love coming to work each and everyday just because I am living my dreams. The biggest advice I can give you though is take ACTION to do it. You can dream and dream forever however without ACTION that is all it will ever be A DREAM!!

If you have a fear of the unknown my advice is to “feel the fear and do it anyway”, I bought this book years ago and did exactly that felt my fear and did it anyway. I resigned from my well paid job, moved to my dream of being near the beach, started at Signs’n’Banners which was making back then $100 a month (mind you I had absolutely no sales experience what so ever, I knew nothing about marketing, business (only administration) and now when I have a fear I know it is an exciting challenge of the unknown. Life can be so BRILLIANT if you are doing what you love to do. I can say this 100% from my heart.

I started studying successful people 10 years ago. I was intrigued by how some people were successful yet other’s like myself were just living a life of drama’s. One of my biggest mentor’s in my life has been Brian Tracy after going to one of his seminars. Below is some helpful advice I learnt from reading Brian Tracy’s books. If you are serious about making changes to conquer your goals I highly recommend you start reading books on all the successful people in your desired field. Weather that be to learn to become the best fishermen, the best singer, business man/women, whatever it
is that you want to become brilliant at you must learn, but the biggest thing I emphasise is to take ACTION on your learnings.

STOP PROCRASTINATING AND GET MORE DONE IN LESS TIME…
Set the table:
1. Take a clean sheet of paper right NOW and make a list of ten goals you want to accomplish in the next year. Use the present tense, positive voice. Write your goals as though a year has already passed and they are now a reality. Use, and first person so that they are immediately accepted by your subconscious mind. For example, you could write.
“I earn x numbers of dollars per year” or “I weigh x number of pounds” or
“I drive such and such a car.”

2. Review your list of ten goals and select the one goal that, if you achieved it, would have the greatest positive impact on your life. Whatever that goal is, write it on a separate sheet of paper, set a deadline, make a plan, take action on your plan, and then so something every single day that moves you toward that goal. This exercise alone could change your life!
Decide exactly what you want. Clarity is essential. Write out your goals and objectives
before you begin.

Plan every day in advance: Think on paper.
Every minute you spend in planning can save you five or ten minutes in execution.
1. Begin today to plan every day, week, and month in advance. Take a notepad or sheet of paper and make a list of everything you have to do in the next twenty-four hours.
Add to your list as new items come up. Make a list of all your projects, the big multitask jobs that are important to your future.

2. Lay out each of your major goals, projects, or tasks by priority, what is most important, and by sequence, what has to be done first, what comes second, and so forth. Start with end in mind and work backward. Think on paper! Always work from a list. You’ll be amazed at how much more productive you become and how much easier it is to conquer your goals.

There are many factors that influence the growth and success of a business. One of the most important is determination. Without the will to succeed, many business owners find it hard to deal with the many obstacles that litter the road to success. For the team at Signs'n'Banners in Victoria, that 'True Grit' spirit has seen a hobby grown into a vibrant business that's firing with all guns blazing.

Partners Stacey and David are the duo behind Signs'n'Banners. For David, creating signage was really a backyard business/ weekend hobby. Already friends, I approached David with the idea of turning Signs'n'Banners into a fully functioning, successful signage shop. We both agreed. “As this was just a newly established business I was excited about the challenge”. I started being involved in the business in February 2007, by September 2007, Signs'n'Banners was a 'Business Achiever' 2007 finalist in our local paper.”

David's background is in mechanical engineering. However, he later went on to study marketing, real estate and quality control. Before Signs'n'Banners, David's work experience included a diverse range of fields such as quality control, sales of capital equipment and printed goods, and working in the field of real estate.

For myself, the road that led to Signs'n'Banners' has been an incredibly hard but inspiring one. I have lived life without my mum, was abused at age nine, fell pregnant at age fifteen, had a second child at age nineteen, and at one point when my son was three and my daughter was four months old, I was homeless and sleeping on a friends floor. For me, the hard years continued as I suffered a life of domestic violence. “Now you may be thinking this is a sad and sorry story, however these are my lessons I have learnt in life that are now my gifts to give and share with others”. “I discovered my higher purpose in life and that is to help other young mums gain back their self-esteem, discover their passions in life and to take action to achieve them.” I now have four delightful children Josh 13, Tahlia 10, Jack 8 and my little bub Toby 9 weeks. My life is finally where I have visualised it to be for many years.
