STACEY'S JOURNEY

Hello to all of my client’s and I do hope you are all kicking goals this year so far. I have so far conquered 3 of my 2010 goals. Let me explain. My goal for 2010 was to do a big rainforest walk. Dave bought me a Spirit Of Tasmania ticket for Christmas and so we decided to go to Tasmania last weekend.

The first thing I did was do my big walk up Cradle Mountain absolutely divine and with no idea what so ever Dave decided to propose to me up the top of the mountain, to say I was shocked was an understatement so yes now I am engaged (first time ever), am still shocked but ever so happy oh and I did say yes and he actually picked the right ring (thank god because I am such an honest person I would have had to tell him if I did not like it)!! So that was 1 goal conquered that walk was AMAZING!!

My 2nd goal was to find a like minded group in which we can get together and talk business. Well I have found the most amazing mastermind group of like minded people. I can’t believe that the business people I use to read about and watch on TV are actually in my group (there are 10 of us), and I had the opportunity of sitting with two of these business men last week for two hours at a time (they are helping me with my BIG goals) these guys literally charge thousands to talk with them so as you can imagine I was a little overly excited lol..

My 3rd goal was to get a speaking gig and well have I got one. As you know I am the spokesperson for lighthouse and have been asked to speak at the PR luncheon in front of 350 corporate women WOW what an opportunity. So if you would like to come and witness my very first speaking gig please let me know as half of the money goes back into the lighthouse, I think the tickets are $90 (not 100% sure at this stage) but how very exciting.

Now my next goal and it’s nearly finished is to do my very first seminar it’s called “Empowering Young Mums” in which I will be offering tools I have learnt to empower these mums to move forward and make their dreams happen, again money made from this event will be donated to lighthouse. I will then run seminars on business building. So I would love to hear what your goals are this year and have you ticked any off yet???

Goal Setting and Actions

What is it that you would like to achieve in the near or distant future? Success in your career?
Losing those unwanted kilos? Buying that dream car?
Gaining greater confidence? More energy? Fulfilling relationship? Buying your first home?

Whatever it is that you want, the most important step is setting a goal. Goals keep you focussed and motivated, and increase your likelihood of getting the things you want. Take a little time to think about some of the things that you would like to achieve in the next year. If you can't think of anything, close your eyes and imagine how you would like things to be in one, two, or three year's time. What do you hope will be different? Here are some of the areas that you might consider.

Confidence
Family
Health/fitness
Financial security
Happiness

There are many factors that influence the growth and success of a business. One of the most important is determination. Without the will to succeed, many business owners find it hard to deal with the many obstacles that litter the road to success. For the team at Signs'n'Banners in Victoria, that 'True Grit' spirit has seen a hobby grown into a vibrant business that's firing with all guns blazing.

Partners Stacey and David are the duo behind Signs'n'Banners. For David, creating signage was really a backyard business/ weekend hobby. Already friends, I approached David with the idea of turning Signs'n'Banners into a fully functioning, successful signage shop. We both agreed. “As this was just a newly established business I was excited about the challenge”. I started being involved in the business in February 2007, by September 2007, Signs'n'Banners was a 'Business Achiever' 2007 finalist in our local paper.”

David's background is in mechanical engineering. However, he later went on to study marketing, real estate and quality control. Before Signs'n'Banners, David's work experience included a diverse range of fields such as quality control, sales of capital equipment and printed goods, and working in the field of real estate.

For myself, the road that led to Signs'n'Banners' has been an incredibly hard but inspiring one. I have lived life without my mum, was abused at age nine, fell pregnant at age fifteen, had a second child at age nineteen, and at one point when my son was three and my daughter was four months old, I was homeless and sleeping on a friends floor. For me, the hard years continued as I suffered a life of domestic violence. “Now you may be thinking this is a sad and sorry story, however these are my lessons I have learnt in life that are now my gifts to give and share with others”. “I discovered my higher purpose in life and that is to help other young mums gain back their self-esteem, discover their passions in life and to take action to achieve them.” I now have four delightful children Josh 13, Tahlia 10, Jack 8 and my little bub Toby 9 weeks. My life is finally where I have visualised it to be for many years.

From the backyard to the factory floor, Signs'n'Banners now produces digitally printed marketing solutions for a variety of business groups including government, advertising agencies, retail and trade customers and exhibition events. The company's range of products includes pull-up banners, x-banners, bowhead flags, teardrop flags, posters, portable fabric walls and a range of other digitally printed products.
